Any writers here?

Just curious. How many poets we got? Playwrights? Screenwriters? Novelists? Lyricists? Scribblers?

I've got one book out and another soon to be released. The first, a combination of true stories and poems, alternated throughout the book. The second, a collection of true stories, mostly about my family and mostly centered around the way kids interpret things, unknown to the adults around them until the kid brings it up later.

I write. Genre fiction and literary creative nonfiction. Some of it hopefully soon to be published, considering I'm almost done with a college degree in it. It's gotta be good for something besides a really expensive fancy piece of paper...

My second book is now available from the publisher! Get it online at www.authorhouse.com. "He Opens He's Eyes and He Closes He's Eyes". Read about how the electric window fan in the room I shared with my sister in Kansas scared the shit out of me all summer, every year!

I think I must be mostly a scribbler -- I do have about five small books worth of poetry I eventually plan to (re)post somewhere into the interwebbieness, I wrote three one-act plays in college (all of which stank and are hopefully in a land fill somewhere), and I've abandoned 3 or 4 NaNoWriMo novels after getting no further in than the fourth chapter of each. (I *have* written and performed at least a few dozen songs [music *and* lyrics] that at least didn't get me run out of town on a rail...)

    (Raises hand)

I write short fiction (genre and mainstream), the occasional bad poetry, and of course, I'm in the midst of a novel.

I've written a book of Hauki poetry and eventually hope to get it published. I've written another small gift size book and it's driving me crackers trying to find out something about those many agents that promise you the moon but I need a way to know which one to go with.
I've written lots of greeting card verse but when I sent my best and it wasn't accepted, I got so discouraged I put that on hold.
I have written some other poetry, entered them in contests and got a few honorable mentions which were published in anthologies.

    Though dilapidated
You whose names written in blood
    Fly your flags with courage

    Young girls are lonely
    As soldiers fly flags enough
    To fill a foreign sky

    Shaman and saints alike
    Pray angels of deliverance
    Are not all asleep
    .

I find Tribe for writers really weird and I’m a bit jaded. I’ve posted genuine ads looking for writers for very small projects but no one responds (not in this group). However I’ve read a handful of jaded posts where writers complain they can’t find writing jobs to put on their resume? It’s very rare that a person hits success in one gig doesn’t it make more sense to do the smaller projects to add to a resume and build up to success?

Poems, songs, used to write book and record reviews for magazines, short stories, essays.
And I love to play with the words from the daily Jumble in the paper.

I write short stories that can possibly be categorized as the new Bizarro genre, the difference however is that I don't seek refuge in fucked up sexual stories (that's sooo been done before). My stories are fucked up in such a way that most people don't even know why it's fucked up, all they know is that it gives them nightmares. Furthermore I write poetry (at the moment I enjoy writing poems about the stupidity of rhyming, the poems all rhyme, of course).

I blog. Essays. Poems. Health stuff. Informational articles. Training manuals. Random politically incorrect BS. I try to write smut but I'm still too repressed to fully pull it off. And of course, like everyone else, I'm writing a book.

I write psychedelic erotica for my girl and friends and I'm slowly getting around to figuring out how to share it with others. It works better as a performance rather than a curl up by the fire type of read. I'm not really interested in story lines, plot development, etc. I like beautifully decorated scenes and characters - absurd and surprising. In a way I suppose that the things I write are more poetry than story. I dont really know what box to try cram it into so I just won't.

I've just self-published a novel and was wondering if anyone knew how to get excerpts of writing out there for people in this area to read. Is there an on-line site available for this or some kind of bulletin board for writers? Any info. on this would be greatly appreciated or just write to me with any comments at all, thanks.

Yes. I write as well as everything else. However, besides poetry, the two books I have here are not completed. They are true stories of my life (and the other includes my fathers Vietnam horror stories), which I can't publish until most of my family is deceased OR possibly under a false name....But yes, I write. Anyone have any 'Nam stories they want me to write into this particular book?
